This is a song made for someone who shared with me their story. In some small way, I would like to feel as though this provides a voice to them when they don't have one otherwise. I am unbelievably thankful to them for sharing their story and allowing me to write this song about them.
lyrics
A girl who never lived a kid.
She was raised to raise.
Now maybe this is morbid,
But that just conjures malaise.
She tells me her brother found liquid courage.
But did it pan out how he wanted?
A blaze of metal and umbrage.
Looks like success was twisted.
The hands we're dealt
Don't define us.
The hands we're dealt
Mostly hurt us.
{Interlude}
In the darkness of the night,
A beast comes to pass.
Broken by the fright,
Reaching critical mass.
The hands we're dealt
Don't define us.
The hands we're dealt
Mostly hurt us.
The hands we're dealt
The hands we're dealt
They don't bind us.
There is a way out
If you look in the sky.
Keep your head held high.
Forget your cards.
